My interest in both English and Psychology fostered the desire to teach, and this led to the development of my one-to-one tutoring business. As a first-class graduate in these subjects, you can be assured that your child will receive not only a high-quality education, but also one that is catered and adapted to each individual student. My dual background in English and Psychology provides an in-depth comprehension of these subjects, but also allows me to employ psychological principles to enhance my teaching methods.

On a more personal level, tutoring has been incredibly rewarding. Watching students grow in confidence, hearing them report improved exam scores, and building meaningful relationships with them has been deeply fulfilling. Whenever a student leaves positive feedback or refers me to a family member or friend, it reinforces my enjoyment for teaching and reminds me of the positive impact I can have on their learning journey.

Tutoring Experience

In my time as a tutor, I have worked with students of varying academic abilities, learning needs, and ages. For instance, I have tutored students with ADHD, anxiety, autism, dyslexia, delayed speech, and hearing impairments. However, I also largely tutor students with no learning needs who simply wish to improve their grades. This applies to students within the school system, as well as homeschooled children. To guarantee that I comprehend each new student's requirements and learning styles, I send a questionnaire either to them or their parents (depending on age). This equips me to create lessons for each specific student, rather than delivering a lesson that many students have received, with no tweaks or adaptations for their unique needs.

A major misconception with tutoring is that it only applies to students who are struggling: I have tutored many GCSE and A-Level students who were achieving commendable marks, but wanted to push themselves further. The lessons supplemented their knowledge and secured excellent final grades.

In addition to my kind student reviews on First Tutors, below are more online reviews for your interest:

"Simply wonderful, she knows her subject, puts her students at ease and tailors the learning to the student's needs. Very happy." - Online review from Helen, regarding A-Level Psychology tuition.

"I contacted Chloe as I was looking for a tutor for my son for his GCSE’s. Chloe has taught my son since December and the progress he has already made is incredible. She is very professional and excellent at what she does. I highly recommend Chloe and can’t thank her enough!" - Online review from Amy, regarding GCSE English Language and English Literature tuition.

"Very professional, good quality tutoring. My daughter took Psychology lessons and was very pleased with Chloe. A big thank you." - Online review from Sanjay, regarding A-Level Psychology tuition.

Tutoring Approach

My general approach is laid-back and friendly: I understand that some students will be reluctant to attend tutoring, or simply tired if they have a session after school. Therefore, I strive to maintain an environment that is relaxed, where a personal interest is shown in the student, with them also feeling comfortable to chat. In my experience, I have found that students who are comfortable are more receptive to learning, and are more likely to ask questions for clarification during lessons.

There are additionally more ways I ensure student's comfort: it is reiterated that any mistakes made in the lessons will not be scolded. I also do not assume that all students will be comfortable with reading out loud. Student's comfort is of the utmost importance in my sessions, and will always be prioritised. Confidence is another area I aim to build: this is an essential stepping stone to achievement, and so positive reinforcement is consistently awarded. Regarding lesson content, I ensure there is a large variety of videos, activities, discussions and some games (for the younger clients) to captivate the interest of each student.
