I'm a fully qualified Maths teacher and GCSE examiner with an MSc in Statistics and PGCE in secondary Mathematics from Birmingham University.
I love maths. I also love running. I ran this year's London Marathon to raise money for charity and had to dig really deep to get to the finish. Maths and running have many parallels!

Tutoring Experience

I have 10+ years experience teaching maths in secondary schools and was Leader of Numeracy for 2 years at my last school in a challenging inner-city international school. For the past 5 years I've worked as a maths teacher at an OFSTED outstanding school and have recently trained as a Secondary Maths Mastery specialist and Professional Development Lead, accredited by the National Centre for Excellence in Maths which has further improved my awareness of maths pedagogy.

I have 25 years private tutoring experience and am very experienced when it comes to helping students achieve their goals. One of my most recent students scored 880/900 in the Quantitative Reasoning section of his UCAT medicine entrance exam, achieved a 7 in his IB exams and has recently started studying medicine at Oxford.

Tutoring Approach

Maths is a wonderful subject which can potentially teach pupils a great deal about themselves, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching it. During the initial assessment, I quickly identify pupils' strengths and weaknesses and work on areas for improvement all the while trying to motivate and inspire them to dig deep and insist on the very best of themselves. All of my pupils have achieved their target grades with the majority exceeding it by 2 or 3 grades.

I offer a free 20-minute consultation lesson with pupil and parent present, where I demonstrate how Zoom and Bitpaper work then 25% off the first lesson. I ask for payment after each lesson and have a 48-hour cancellation policy.
