Information About Cheryl - Yarm tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Cheryl:
About to take early retirement, but want to offer private tuition as I don’t want to give up language teaching just yet. I have a degree in French and French studies and have also a good knowledge of Spanish. I have traveled widely and spent time in French, Spanish and German schools learning about their systems and teaching methods.
Taught French in three different secondary schools in the North East area over the last 25 years. (Head of department for the last 14) Taught KS 3 Spanish for last five years. Taught German at KS 3, but not recently as German seems to be disappearing from many school ‘s curriculum. Examiner for AQA and EDEXCEL (Pearson’s) As well as vocabulary I think it is essential to have a good knowledge of grammar so I do put a lot of time into learning verbs and tenses. I have experience of teaching adult beginners, both one to one and in a class group.
I begin by finding my student’s current level and build on from there. Every lesson builds on knowledge gained in the lesson before. For KS3 and 4 students I put a strong emphasis on understanding grammar as this is essential for future study. I give equal coverage of the four skills listening, speaking, reading and writing and use as much target language as my student is comfortable with. I prefer to teach in my own home in Ingleby Barwick but am prepared to travel so long as travel time and fuel are paid.
