I only have limited spaces left now for September, so please get in touch if you are thinking of putting some tutoring into place for then
Born and raised in Coventry, I am a passionate and dedicated teacher of English with a particular interest in grammar and the English Language.
I have nearly twenty years of experience teaching English.
I have been teaching in state comprehensive schools since gaining my PGCE in English and Drama from Warwick University in 2006.
I work as a Lead Practitioner in English across a MAT. As part of my current role, I deliver training, coaching and mentoring to both new and established teachers (at primary and secondary level) as well as teaching KS3, KS4 and KS5 (with English Language being my specialism).
I have also taught year 5 and 6 as well as students being educated in a specialist provision where they were a variety of students with various different needs.
Therefore, if you are looking for some support for your son or daughter in preparation for SATS or the transition to secondary school, I am able to help you with this or if your son or daughter has an additional need that means they are finding school challenging.
Recently, I have been through two Ofsted inspections where I have personally been given an outstanding rating for my own classroom practice as well as securing some excellent GCSE and A-Level results for students with a wide range of needs, including those with SEND and English as an additional language.
I believe still working within the education system gives me the edge when it comes to tutoring as I am up to speed on all the current changes and reforms within the GCSE and A-Level courses as well as knowing what is expected from students within their KS3 years.
To add to this, I am an examiner for the GCSE exam board Eduqas and the AQA examboard, specialising in marking Paper 2 for the English Language GCSE, so I know exactly what they are looking for if your son or daughter is sitting these particular boards.
I am also well skilled in preparing students for the iGCSE if you have a son or daughter at private school preparing for this exam.
Personalisation is my approach within the classroom, so it is also my approach to tutoring as no two students are the same. We can work together to draw up a plan of what we want the sessions to look like and take it from there.
I will also work alongside/with son or daughter’s teacher to ensure the sessions are as purposeful as they can be - run in conjunction with what is happening in their lessons and focus specifically on areas they can develop.
