I've recently graduated from the University of Oxford with First Class Honours in a BA in Philosophy and French. I've now begun an MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies there so I'm constantly engaging with different teaching methods myself. I'm bilingual as I grew up speaking both English and French at home in London and over the course of my undergraduate studies I've been rigorously trained in French grammar. I love France's literature and culture so I encourage students to deal with genuine Francophone texts and videos in order to stimulate their interest in the country.
I have previously taught French for Hashtag Tuition and Holland Park Tutors, helping students to overcome difficulties with classwork and cultivating a genuine interest in the subject.
Learning a language should never simply involve the mechanical acquisition of vocab or grammar- it's not interesting and it's not effective. I try to observe what the key needs and interests of each individual tutee are before adapting my lesson plans accordingly. My broader appreciation of French culture means that I am always prepared to use material from a wide range of sources in order to ensure lessons are engaging and beneficial.
