I am an experienced tutor with an MA in Art History and English from the University of St Andrews, a CELTA from International House, London, and top A level and GCSE results from the Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe.
I am friendly, engaging and charismatic and bring these qualities to my private tutoring so that my students feel comfortable and able to do their best while we work to achieve their learning aims. In every case I give my students a solid platform from which to excel.
My interests include sport, theatre, opera and galleries and I also have a passion for wine - I hold the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines and have my own online shop selling wine related goods.
I would be delighted to work with you; please get in touch with any queries you have.
I have worked with students of all ages for the past 7+ years to help them realise their potential and have experience understanding individual difficulties and learning barriers. Also, my strong academic track record enables me to understand the requirements for achieving success and teach them effectively.
I specialise in English, which I avidly studied myself and cover the whole gamut from essay writing and effective arguments to creative writing, drama and language analysis. I enjoy bringing literature to life and conveying my own enthusiasm.
My main focus in recent years has been teaching English as a foreign language and I work with students around the world. Consequently I am well placed to work with students for whom English is not their first language.
I am patient, relaxed and think that classes should be enjoyable and engaging. At the same time I am fully focused on helping my students achieve success.
Private tuition must be bespoke and I personalise my lessons so that the needs of each individual student are being met. I believe that it is crucial to develop independence of thought and the ability to think for oneself and consequently encourage and help a student develop these abilities.
When it comes to exams, achieving success is based on approaching the questions with clarity and I help students to break down what is being asked of them so that they can effectively and concisely draw from their knowledge to apply the relevant information.
I am able to travel to the student's home for each class and offer a reduced rate for an initial meeting and consultation.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions you have.
