Assessing different learning styles and individual levels of motivation allows me to structure my approach. Each tutoring assignment is tailored to the individual with emphasis on knowledge, writing skills, essay structure, employing scaffolding templates to improve focus, skills and outcome. I am able to provide most of the resources but like to include key texts etc. that the student has available.
Engaging a tutor is often a difficult decision and many students find it difficult to make an ongoing commitment to a regular schedule. Flexibility can be discussed, subject to capacity limitation and, generally, notice by email, 24 hours in advance has proven successful.
Terms
1.Rates are based on an academic hour (60 minutes).
2.The first session is free and is an opportunity to find out more about the type of tuition, the course and the resources that are available. It provides an ‘ice breaker’ so that tuition can be an enjoyable as well as an effective experience.
3.Further bookings are made with a prepayment covering 4 sessions over a four week period, thus ensuring continuity and preferential availability.
4.Tuition fees before the first session of the cycle. Free cancellations apply 24 hours before each session, except in high-demand periods e.g. during exam session, where one week (7 days) notice is required.
