I've been a Primary School Teacher for 20 years now. I did my degree in Psychology at The University of Southampton where I specifically studied Educational Psychology as well as Child Psychology before I completed my Teacher Training at Oxford Brookes University. I live with my husband and 2 teenage boys, as well as a dog, cat and 2 rabbits! I have a real passion for teaching and want to use the expertise and skills I have gained over my time in the classroom to give children what they need to reach their full potential in their personal learning journey.
Throughout my teaching career, I have taught Reception, Ks1 and Ks2 so have a huge wealth of knowledge and experience! I have excellent knowledge in the teaching of early reading and writing through phonics and can adapt my approach to suit the needs of the children that I work with. I pride myself in the way that I am able to build up relationships with the children I work with so that they feel comfortable and relaxed to work to the best of their ability. I am able to work with your child on any area of the Primary National Curriculum, whether they have some gaps in their knowledge that they need some help to fill or whether they want to boost their knowledge in a specific subject area.
I know that children learn best when they can be as hands on as possible! I use a range of physical resources to meet the needs of the child I am working with. I know that one size does not fit all and once I get to know your child, I cater my teaching to fit their learning style.
