I am a mum of two girls (well, young adults now) and spend my spare time indulging in my interests - from being an avid devourer of books, to drumming in a samba band, to writing a children's novel, to running and lifting weights regularly, to exploring coasts, fields and festivals in my camper van; sitting down is not my cup of tea! I am committed to being a lifelong learner and have just completed an MA with a coaching diploma being next on my horizon.
I have been a primary school teacher since 2001, teaching KS2, with 15 years experience teaching Y6. I have recently left the classroom and begun working as a personal tutor, training and supporting trainee teachers, which I love. I have also been tutoring around the day job and have worked with pupils studying for the 11+, KS2 SATs and currently have pupils who I am tutoring for GCSE English literature and language.
I am passionate about learning and love to make it fun and meaningful. I use assessment continuously to understand where pupils are working and what their gaps are. I am flexible and will adapt lessons and schemes to fit the student's needs. I work very hard on improving pupils' confidence, as this is so often the biggest hurdle for many students.
