Hi I’m Caoimhe! I am a first year medical student at the University of Liverpool. I am very passionate about the fact that any student is able to an achieve A or A* grades, independent of the school they attend or their background.
For the past 2 years during sixth form, I regularly helped students of all different year groups with homework and revision tasks from GCSE level to A-level standards. I also regularly did volunteer tutoring sessions for family and friends throughout these 2 years. I also have 2 years experience teaching swimming and I have spent time as a volunteer classroom assistant in a primary school.
I prefer to use a circular teaching approach so at the start of the lesson, test the knowledge, then in the main part of the lesson teach the content, with distinct sections of knowledge with questions and discussion time after each section, then a little game to keep them engaged and bring all the knowledge together then test their knowledge again then apply it to exam questions. I also prefer to be thorough and detailed with my explanations of the content rather than rushing through it. I also base my lessons specifically of the spec so that things aren’t missed or overcomplicated. For teaching I prefer to use a combination of images, text and drawings.
