Hi, I am Britta and I have been teaching German at the Goethe Institute and universities for over 20 years.
Languages are my passion and I am a keen learner myself. I grew up in Aachen but have lived in the US, France, Brazil, Japan und now in London.
I have been teaching German for more than 20 years at the Goethe-Institute and universities in Japan and in the UK. I have been running my private tutoring business in London since 2012, teaching students at all different levels and different ages.
I prepare students for GCSE, A-level, TestDaF, telc, DSH, and all the Goethe exams. I am a qualified examiner for all level A1-C2 exams of the Goethe-Institute.
I also prepare students for job interviews, 'meeting the parents', business German and that litte smalltalk to German clients, which sometimes makes all the difference.
I am currently teaching at:
Goethe-Institute London
King's College London
London Business School
I have previously taught at:
Birkbeck University London
Goethe-Institute Tokyo
Rikkyo University Tokyo
Keio University Tokyo
Gakushuin University Tokyo
I have tutored students from St. Paul's School, Westminster School, Lycée Français London, Carshalton High School for Girls, Henriette Barnett School and others.
I have tutored people from the following companies:
Citibank London, Lidl UK, Crossroads Real Estate, Unisys, Bloomberg UK, Moody's London, Mexican Embassy and others.
I offer a free 30-minute assessment and trial lesson first, where we get to know each other and talk about your goals, time commitment and expectations. I like to pick up students wherever they stand as beginners, proficient speakers who need a bit of refreshing, or anywhere in between.
I see myself as a guide along a self-chosen path, where I support you on your journey and ensure that you get to your destination, efficiently and with a bit of fun and aha-moments along the way.
I teach online now and have found this to be very efficient for one-to-one tutoring as there is little distraction. A focus on speaking and practical use of grammar combined with games and multimedia exercises make lessons motivating and fun. Everybody learns in a different way so I use a personalised and individual approach for each student.
If you live in London, our trial lesson can be in-person so we get to know each other in real life and take it from there.
