I have been a university lecturer since 1996 and enjoy passing on my knowledge and enthusiasm for psychology to my students. I specialise in teaching statistics and research methods. I co-authored a text book on statistics and SPSS for students: "A Crash Course in SPSS". I especially focus on helping degree-level students with quantitative dissertation research and write-up. I have supervised well over 150 students' final year projects and many PhD students. I have published my research in international journals (over 50 articles) and presented my research at many conferences. My teaching covers social and cognitive psychology, especially judgment and decision making.
I have over 25 years experience teaching psychology in Further Education Colleges and Universities. I am happy doing one-on-one tuition or lectures with over 300 students. My students would tell you that I am helpful and approachable and make the material I'm teaching easy to understand. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2016, reflecting my work in curriculum design and in-depth teaching knowledge.

I am flexible in my approach to tutoring, getting to know my student's strengths and weaknesses and then tailoring the teaching and methods to suit the student. I try to develop the student's attitude to feedback so that they see it as constructive and don't let it dishearten them. I have had overwhelmingly positive feedback from students over many years, and have been nominated for many teaching awards. I don't have many reviews on this site as I value student confidentiality and anonymity. I am flexible in how often and when we have meetings. Mostly we can do online meetings, unless you live nearby.
