I am a dynamic and creative teacher, always finding new ways to get my students to achieve at their maximum potential. With an MA, MEd, PGCE, & NPQLL I'm a highly qualified educator with a consistently high exam results record over 20 years of teaching. My teaching experience traverses a range of settings: from nursery, through primary and secondary, right up to teaching retired adult learners - as well as being a mother who continues to support my adult children on their academic journeys. Empathetic and supportive, I tailor my tuition to the individual needs of students, giving them confidence and motivation; facilitating them towards creating work independently of a constantly improving standard. As Lead Practitioner at a large secondary school, I've been developing the curriculum and creating high quality resources specifically designed to motivate students and deliver the specific skills needed to succeed in both English language and literature, at both GCSE & A level. I have also worked as an examiner, and I lead regular CPD sessions on accurate marking for my colleagues. However, my real aim in tutoring is getting students to gain a love of the subject, of the rich texts studied in English literature as well as the joy of writing creatively as well as persuasively and I have consistently created confident and self-motivated learners with a strong desire to achieve excellence.

20 years private tuition - including running a home tutoring service facilitating 70 students KS1-KS4 on their learning journeys.

Tutoring Approach

I am a creative and nurturing teacher, who treats all students as individuals.
For KS4&5 students I will align my teaching with the GCSE or AS/A level syllabus the tutee is following and create tasks utilising exam-based resources to enable students to have more confidence in tackling exam questions. I have high expectations and will push tutees intellectually to do their best, at the same time as giving them full support and constantly building their confidence in their abilities.
With younger students, I focus more on building skills and creating the joy in learning necessary to truly excel.
With university students, I will discuss your tasks and support with structure. I will proofread, advise on grammar, content, wording and facilitate in the creation of well-written assignments.
