I am Male and am married with one child. I live near Lincoln and am available for tutoring in Lincoln and surrounding areas. I am a practical person and a former engineer and lecturer. I own a car so am able to travel to students homes for tuition if that is preferable. I am a friendly and open person and treat all others as equals. I have good communication skills and often make use of IT in my teaching.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 20 years experience of teaching Maths on engineering courses, including City & Guilds, GCSE and A level. This has often involved working with lower ability students as well as the more able and/or experienced. I have also worked as an examiner for the NEAB examination board, which involved the marking of exam papers at AS level. I also have experience as a private Tutor and have been helping students with Maths at home for several years.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is friendly and professional. I am well organised and always make sure I am prepared for the tutoring session. I like to keep the sessions friendly and informal as this helps to put students at ease and more able to concentrate on the subject being covered. I always keep a record of previous work with a student as this helps with setting future work and revision. I also like to discuss future work with students and if homework is appropriate I can arrange this.
