Benjamin

Online Maths and Computer Studies / I.T. Tuition

I am an energetic teacher that understands the importance of a great teacher (after dealing with both good and bad teachers) and the need for tutors after having some throughout my whole academic career. Due to this first-hand experience, I know some great technique to really engage with students. I can change my teaching style to the needs of each student to make sure they get the most out of every session. I am patient, friendly, and confident on the topics I wish to teach as they are topics that genuinely interest me, and I wish to pass this interest on to more people. At the end I just want my students to learn and enjoy it as they go.

Tutoring Experience

I have had many past tutoring experiences some paid with clients and free sessions with friends and family. These have been both online and in person but since I am at university, I will be looking to do them online. I have taught maths at pre-GCSE, GCSE, and A-level. I have taught computer science at pre-GCSE and GCSE and even do a bit of degree level at university, but I don’t wish to do that here. I also have experience getting tutored, so I know what makes a session great.

Tutoring Approach

My approach has always been to make the student feel confident, comfortable, and engaged. The first session I use to figure out what their goals are and how they learn so I can tailor my lesson plans to suit them better. I also like to give feedback at the end of the session on how I believe there learning is progressing and simply state the topics we covered that day, as it always helped me paint a mental picture of topics after a session with my tutor. I also like to finish the session with 3-5 questions on the topics we have covered so they can go over the topic at least once before I next see them and to see if the learning had stuck with them. This idea of tutoring and the techniques I used have all been used on me so I know the positive impact they can have.
