Becki

Hi there. I’m Becki. I’m 30 and I am full time Primary School teacher (working in Key Stage 2) and for the past 5 years have worked in year 6.

I also have ABRSM grade 8 in flute and saxophone, ABRSM grade 7 in clarinet and ABRSM grade 5 theory. I also completed a Performance certificate on flute (a 30 minute recital) before I did my degree on saxophone.. I teach both alto and tenor saxophone, flute, recorder, clarinet and teach the specification for grade 5 theory. I teach both routes of the ABRSM exams: performance grades and the practical exams.

Tutoring Experience

I have 9 years experience of teaching the core and foundation subjects in Key Stage 2, working in year 3, 5 and 6. I am continually recapping skills from previous lesson and gap filling to ensure that my pupils have the skills required to smoothly enter year 7.

I have also been teaching music since the age of 19 to children and adults. I have supported them through ABRSM grades, both practical, theoretical and the new digital exam format. I have also supported them in their GCSE and A Level performances, organising suitable programmes to show their strengths or playing alongside them for the ensemble piece.

Tutoring Approach

For me, teaching is about fun, positivity and giving children the skills to explore and learn new skills. I want children leaving the lesson feeling determined and motivated to practise and achieve their goals whether this be through the learning the skills to pass an exam, to build confidence in their ability or to further extend their learning.
