Tutoring Experience

Posses more than fifteen years of teaching experience. I have taught more than thousands of hours. Taught students with various abilities. I started teaching from my secondary school days by supporting and mentoring my peers who need more support. I conduct small group sessions and one-to-one lessons over the last ten years.

Tutoring Approach

I use differentiation and scaffolding approaches where necessary. Extremely patient tutor who can make students comfortable in understanding and interpreting complex problems and breaking them down into smaller parts.

Teaching to KS2: I have three kids and had to teach my eldest child when she was in year 3 about finding the value of something. Initially, I used algebra to solve a problem and realized the best way to actively engage her is to use Trial and Improvement. After a few questions, she realized she can solve the problem quickly by using algebra. Since then I have always tried to teach children the basic steps and guide them to follow quicker methods.

Year 7-9: My approach is to teach them in detail and encourage them to write steps and understand why they have to be more methodological. This helps them to eliminate careless mistakes and lose marks unnecessarily.

Year 10-11: For higher attainers, I provide harder questions and encourage them to leave their comfort zone and elevate to the next level. All of them achieved a minimum of 8 in their maths exams.

For the students who need more support or those with less confidence, I use the scaffolding approach which means I will support them until they are happy and ready to solve problems on their own. My approach guided several students to obtain an A grade (7+) from their predicted level of 4.

GCSE Maths: Teach both Foundation and Higher level attainers including Further Maths Level 2.

A-Level Maths: Before commencing the tuition, I conduct an initial assessment and I discuss with each student what they need to do to achieve the best results. Especially the distinction between GCSE and Advanced level. I tailor the lessons based on their needs and provide full support. All of my past students achieved higher grades and appreciated my support in encouraging them and making them in believing in themselves.
A-Level Maths: Teaching EDEXCEL, OCR, and MEI syllabus. Teaching to students from Private, Grammer, and State schools across South West London.
