Online Maths and English Lessons

Hi, I'm Aysha! A recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, and I am now a part time tutor and full-time student pursuing a Masters in Reproductive Science and Women's Health at UCL. My passion for teaching others and sharing the knowledge I have gained throughout my academic career was initially what motivated me to become a tutor.

Tutoring Experience

I have now taught for over 2,500 hours. Mainly in a 1:1 setting with private tutees and group settings during revision sessions in the lead up to exams. I find teaching to be a very rewarding experience and take great pride in my tailored lesson plans to best suit the tutee, as I recognise each individual’s learning process is extremely unique to them. I passionately believe in the importance of high-value teaching and find immense satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential.

Privately, I mainly tutor the Sciences and Maths with most of my students at GCSE and primary school. I also have experience teaching English at Primary and GCSE level and many of my current tutees have gone on to study English Literature as a fourth A-level alongside their STEM subjects purely as a result of their enjoyment of the subject during our lessons.

Additionally, I provide application/personal statement support for undergraduate and masters applications which includes interview preparation sessions.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is to acknowledge every student's individualism and tailor make sessions to ensure utmost enjoyment of the subject area. I appreciate that different students excel and struggle in different areas. I am able to immediately adjust my teaching style to suit the tutee as soon as I sense that they are struggling to grasp a concept and adjust my teaching approach until I can see that they are able to successfully apply the concept.

As a result of my individualised approach my teaching style varies from student to student as well as being dependent on the subject taught.

The foundational aspects of my sessions include:
- Teaching new material, or rephrasing concepts/ areas students are struggling with
- Discussing the wider applications of the material to help with understanding the real-world significance of the knowledge that is being taught
- Exam preparation sessions (focussing on commonly asked questions)
- Exam practice question bank for every topic in their subject specific specification which will be assigned to the student at the end of every topic that we cover
- Regular feedback on independent learning assignments, to keep myself updated on how students are benefiting from the sessions, and to ensure they reach their full potential!
