Private Maths and Physics Tuition in Gainsborough

I am a University of Oxford graduate with a chemistry masters-level degree. I take a friendly and interactive approach to tutoring to build understanding and long-term memory of topics.

Tutoring Experience

I have two years of experience providing one-on-one in-person tutoring for GCSE Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry students. In some cases I have been able to increase student performance by more than 2 grades over the academic year.

I have also tutored A-Level Chemistry both in person and online, allowing me the flexibility of teaching via online platforms, or face to face. In one case, I was able to take a student from a D grade to an A grade during one academic year.

During university, I was also able to lead workshops covering physics and chemistry problem-sheets for offer holder students.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring approach is very interactive. Usually, this can include me providing an explanation of a specific topic, as requested by a student before the lesson. I keep the sessions very interactive by asking students to explain back to me a topic we have just covered. The use of past paper questions tailored towards parts of the topic students are struggling with increases understanding. My degree-level chemistry knowledge means that I am able to create high-quality, tailored questions where there are not a sufficient number of past paper questions available for a topic. Repetition of key points thorough my sessions are quick and simple, but ensure that key points are in the long-term memory for use in exams.

Though this is a teaching approach that both my students and I have found successful in the past, I am flexible and able to alter my approach to suit the needs of specific students to ensure their maximum academic potential is reached.
