I received my PhD in Philosophy from UCL. I am a postdoctoral research fellow in philosophy. I am willing to provide flexible tuition online.

Tutoring Experience

In 2021-22, I lectured at University College Dublin. Before that, I was teaching assistant at UCL where I provided seminars, examination marking and course design on undergraduate and masters-level modules. I have also been a personal tutor to BA students privately.

I am able to tutor and assist students who are currently taking A-Level Philosophy, SQA Higher Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies and IB ToK. I am able to teach any aspect of the content on these courses, as well as provide exam training. For undergraduates, I am able to teach content in the areas of Philosophy of Mind, Moral and Political Philosophy, Meta-ethics, Early Modern Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, Logic, Critical Thinking, Epistemology, and Metaphysics. We can also focus, if required, on improving essay writing technique and how to deal more successfully with exam papers.

Please do get in contact if you have specific needs or modules that you need assistance with.

Tutoring Approach

Philosophy is a rich and important subject. My approach to tutoring emphasises two things: understanding and technique. Firstly, I believe that the key to enjoying philosophy is being able to understand and engage with the ideas one is learning about. I am able to convey the ideas accessibly and in a flexible manner so that students can get a sure grip on the arguments and concepts they are supposed to utilise.

Secondly, I have spent most of my life taking exams, writing essays and revising, so I know very acutely the pressures that are on the shoulders of A-Level and undergraduate students. I know that curiosity and creativity needs to encouraged, but also supplemented with techniques for reasoning carefully, and expressing one's ideas more precisely. The emphasis on technique is crucial for exams and essays where understanding what the question is asking for, and how to answer it relevantly is integral.
