Online Maths and English Tuition

I've been tutoring online and in-person since I was in college, and since then have been specializing in IB and GCSEs Math, Biology, English, Psychology, and Mandarin. I'm natively bilingual.

I just graduated from the University of Manchester and hope to use my spare time tutoring students going through the same things I did.

Tutoring Experience

I have 5 years of experience teaching primary, secondary, GCSEs and IB students, including students with special needs such as ADHD. I teach a range of subjects from STEM to social sciences to languages. In my 1st year of Uni I've already started my own structured classes: teaching a textbook series to ESL classes of 6-7. I've had plenty of experience with both students and parents and I fully enjoy what I do and watching students grow from it.

Tutoring Approach

Here's the overall rough structure of how a lesson will go with me. I adjust and tailor the content according to how our progress goes.

  • Quick recap of last lesson.
  • Reviewing goals and weaker content, e.g. homework or exam prep (Main content).
  • Past papers/questions with the student.
  • Wrap up: review weaker sections again, and discuss what to focus on next week.

I like taking feedback seriously, and I ask for feedback at the end of every lesson so I can tailor the best experience for my students. I tend to change the way I teach slightly every single time (especially for those who have special needs) to keep the content interesting and approachable. I like to get to know what my students do outside of the classroom because it helps me get a hold of what works best for them. For example, for one of my Psychology students interested in politics I used analogies in percentages, and theories in economics to help him better grasp the concept and make things interesting.

I'm confident to say it's what makes my lessons different to others' and what helps me uncover what the student actually needs, versus just following a blind rigid structure.
