Online Tuition for Maths

Hi there, I'm Arthur! I recently graduated from a four-year integrated master's course in Maths at Oxford University with first class honours, and having tutored extensively in person, I'm hoping to expand into online tutoring. Having so recently been a student myself, I understand how frustrating it can be to feel like you just can't wrap your head around a piece of material, and I find it very rewarding to be able to bring someone to that point where they "click" with a certain topic.

Tutoring Experience

I recently finished a 4-year integrated masters' degree in Mathematics at Oxford University with first-class honours.

I have extensive experience tutoring a wide range of students in the Netherlands with a focus on preparing them for their final exams in the equivalents of GCSE's and A-levels. My job there includes preparing classroom presentations on the material, as well as marking students' work and giving individualized feedback and homework assignments to work on the areas they're currently the weakest in.

I'm familiar with the GCSE, A-level and IB syllabi for mathematics, including A-level Further Mathematics and the different IB options.

I also have experience helping UK and International pupils prepare applications to Oxbridge for a variety of mathematical subjects. This includes interview prep, personal statement support, general advice on things like college choice, and preparation for the Maths Admissions Test (Oxford) and the Sixth Term Examination Paper (Cambridge). Having been at Oxford so recently myself I have thorough knowledge of what tutors are looking for in a candidate and how to make sure they see the best side of your child both on the test and at the interview stage.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that apart from an excellent knowledge of the material, the most important prerequisite to being a successful tutor is to be able to build a genuine rapport with your tutee. Firstly because this is the only way to truly motivate students when they find the material challenging or uninteresting. Secondly because if on the other hand, the student is simply not confident in their abilities, this is the only way you'll be able to convince them otherwise. I've had great success with this approach.
