Private Online Biology and Entrance Exams Tutor

Hi I'm a 4th year Medical student at Imperial College London, looking to tutor students online for UCAT, BMAT, MMI/Panel interview practice and Medicine. I achieved 3A*s at A-level, 10A*s at GCSE and all 4 university offers (Imperial, King's, Birmingham, Manchester).

I’m looking to give 1-2 hour lessons at a time, focusing on all aspects of the medical entrance process that are relevant to you. This includes:
- UCAT
- BMAT
- Personal Statements
- Interview tips and practice (MMI and/or Panel)
- A-Level Biology (AQA in particular)

I'm also looking to teach university Medicine, including:
- Pre-clinical year medicine (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry)
- Basic clinical medicine.

I’m from a town called Bolton but live in London during the academic year. So far at medical school, I have achieved a Distinction of Medical Sciences and a Merit. For the forthcoming academic year, I have chosen to do my BSc in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Tutoring Experience

I'm really enthusiastic about tutoring, particularly with medicine and the medical school application process. As of the next academic year I am the leader for 1st and 2nd years at the largest academic society at my medical school.

My previous tutoring experience involves:

  • Teaching and delivering lectures for various societies at medical school, including physiology, anatomy and clinical medicine.

  • Delivering a UCAT and a Personal Statement online summer course, through societies based at Imperial College London.

  • I also ran weekly medical application teaching sessions and workshops for a year as the leader of my school's Medical Society in 2019.

  • Experience teaching A-Level Biology and informally tutoring prospective medical students for their application.

Tutoring Approach

My lessons begin by identifying areas my student finds more challenging and formulating personalised lesson plans, tailored to their needs. I aim to help my students master the key skills, techniques and strategies in an engaging way, which helped me excel when I applied for medicine in 2019. Alongside this, I integrate continual practice to build confidence and ensure my students breeze through their application.

Medical school applications are a multi-faceted and challenging time for prospective students. I remember how overwhelmed I felt when I was applying. It’s essential to receive guidance from those who know the ins and outs of the process to achieve as highly as possible, and being in the same shoes myself a few years ago, I’m in a good position to give that help.

I use a similar approach to teaching Medicine, as like entrance exams, topics are diverse and varied. I integrate the use of textbooks, online videos (eg. osmosis.org, acland's video anatomy etc.) and my own notes to provide content in an accurate, concise and interesting way to students. I also provide a vast array of practice questions, which are rarely found at medical school. Having been through the process I have experienced, alongside my peers, the struggle to learn such a large volume of content that is required in medical school. Students struggle the most as they feel medicine is simply a memory test, however my aim is to captivate students to enjoy reading medicine, as much as I do myself. This I have found, makes medicine far, far easier and faster to learn.
