I greatly enjoy teaching and have been a tutor for students applying to Oxbridge for the last 4 years. I also have experience teaching A-level, GCSE and primary school students.
I am currently a 2nd year PhD student at the University of Bristol. From the years 2019-2022, I was a mathematics undergraduate at Murray Edwards college, Cambridge.
In the summer of 2023, I held the role of deputy director of the She Talks Science STEP Summer School at the University of Cambridge, helping students prepare for entrance exams with one-on-one teaching. Other summer schools I have worked on include Murray Edwards Step Summer school, Sutton Trust Summer school and the 'Intro to Maths at Uni' Summer school. Over the last 4 years, I have successfully guided students to gain admission to the mathematics program at the University of Cambridge by providing mock interviews and personal statement writing sessions. I have also been involved in marking the Maths Olympiad for girls, an Olympiad used in selecting students to represent the UK in international Olympiads.
I find the most helpful way to lead a student to become a stronger problem solver is by exposing them to as many types of problems as possible and guiding them through with well-thought-out hints and discussions as to what it is that makes the problem a challenge. This approach I find teaches students to develop the out-of-the-box thinking style required to become unstuck when solving difficult maths problems whilst simultaneously helping them build a problem-solving toolkit in their minds.
