When my daughter Marcella was in Year 10, she really struggled with her GCSE English. She often complained about her teachers and felt she hated the subject. It was tough to watch her lose confidence. Then we found Anthony.

Within just a few lessons, everything changed. It turned out Marcella was more than capable, she had just never been properly taught some of the key techniques (perhaps the class size is too large?). Anthony broke things down clearly, showed her the easy wins for GCSE exams, and made English feel manageable.

The impact was just transformative. Marcella’s confidence grew, not just in English but across all her subjects. Her grades improved, and by December she decided to tackle the gaps in her maths too — a subject she had always feared. Once again, within weeks, her performance soared.

Working with Anthony showed her that with the right help and effort, she could succeed even in the areas she once found intimidating. A year ago, she insisted she was only suited for humanities. Now, thanks to that renewed confidence, she has chosen double maths and double science for her A-levels, a transformation none of us could have imagined.

Anthony struck an immediate rapport with my son and has been able to swiftly tap into and unlock his capabilities. We contacted Anthony quite late after our son's disappointing mock results. We originally wanted a face to face tutor as our son is quite shy. However, Anthony immediately put him at ease and after the first session Alfie was so enthusiastic to show us the work he had done. With only about 10 sessions, we weren't expecting great results but Alfie went on to improve his English Language grade by 2 marks. We couldn't have been happier. Anthony is a great motivator and instills a desire to work hard, even in a short period of time. We can't recommend him enough.

Anthony is preparing my elder daughter for GCSE. We are very happy with her progress and very impressed with the techniques he used to keep the student focused and eager to learn. Anthony was excellent. We came late to the party but nevertheless he worked well with our daughter virtually to bring her up at least two grades in English Language and had we had more time I am sure it would have been two rather than one in literature. Highly recommended.

My son came from 3-3 y10 end of year exams and 4-4 mock exam results in November. He just got his GCSE’s results with an 8 at both Language and Literature. This was achieved in just under eight months of tutoring.

Cannot recommend Anthony enough! My son just received his English GCSE results, and improved from a 3 in September to a 9 in the June final, with an hour a week lesson with Anthony. Anthony is exceptional at identifying where the individuals shortfalls are and focusing on those in personalised lessons. Anthony went above and beyond on his preparation for lessons, reviewing past tests, extra materials, and MOST importantly his engagement and rapport is brilliant, my son really enjoyed his lessons.

Anthony helped my daughter achieve very good results in her GCSE. She was on a predicted level 6 when she first joined her lessons with Anthony and now achieved grade 8s in her Literature and language. We are really pleased with her results and the credit goes to Anthony for the exceptional teaching and bringing out the best in Nidhu to achieve this result.

I cannot recommned Anthony enough. He tutored my very reluctant son for 6 months from November in year 11 as he scraped a 2 in his English Language Autumn mock. By January mock he was up to a high 3. Got his GCSE results today, he got a 6!! Nothing short of a miracle and its all down to Anthony and his tutorship.

He did not give up on him like his teachers had. He provided extra resources even for his English Literature which he was not tutoring him for. This extra help and belief also saw him get a 5 in his English Literature too (he failed every mock)

Anthony understands not all kids like English and find it hard. His experience as a teacher but also an examiner means he knows his subject inside out, but more importantly knows how to get the most out of the time allowed in exams and how the system of marking works. He then adapts this to each student strengths.

He is worth every penny and the smile on my sons face when he saw that 6 was priceless. I would not hesitate in recommending his services especially to those kids (and parents) who have nearly given up.

We first contact Anthony around June 2020 for help with our son in Yr 4 with a target for 11+ in mind. Needless to say my thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a shame that Anthony could not continue due to other work commitment but we now have Anthony back doing Yr 9 English with my eldest. I contacted Anthony, as my son changed schools and had not covered one of the English GCSE books needed for his exams next year. Anthony provided immediate reassurance that it would take a couple of months to cover the book, and started tutoring that night. My son tells me, lessons are organised, structured, insightful and of a very high standard. They are already covering practice exam questions, and my son is much more confident and relaxed about his English Lit Exam. I am very relieved that we found such a great tutor, who is very committed and seems to genuinely care about the pupil’s outcomes.

Anthony has been tutoring my year 7 Son for the past couple of months in English. Concentrating mainly on creative writing. My son looks forward to the lessons and we are very happy with the progress made, and feel he is in a good place to start year 8, despite having been out of school since March. We will definately be in touch with Anthony again in the future when we need a tutor again come GCSE time.

My son (10 years old) is in a top private day school and is doing 13+ for a couple of most competitive schools. He is in top set but never seems to get high marks in English.

We have had two home visiting English tutors (higher hourly rate) previously, but the lessons didn't turn out to be very effective at all.

We had about 10 lessons with Anthony so far which my son enjoys very much. I noticed that, for the first time, he actually put in efforts in doing the English homework given. Anthony is very, very experienced and lessons are very focused on the weaknesses. He knows what is expected and he teaches my son tricks / exam techniques so that he can get all the marks. Also Anthony gives very honest feedback and sets out the steps we need to take in order to achieve the result.

He is very responsible and responsive, often replying to texts and emails late in the night /weekends. I appreciate this very much.

Although it's an online lesson, we found it more impactful for my son. I will come back and update if he has got into the preferred school.

My son is 9 1/2 years old. We engaged to work with Anthony to help our son strengthen his grammar base and develop his writing skills. Even though we have only done a few lessons so far, I can see that our son is already benefitting from having a good structure and mindful guidance from Anthony. Anthony is careful to keep our son engaged, and often mixes things up to gauge interest level and keep it a bit fun. He keeps classes 'light' while at the same time managing to get all the necessary learning in. He has a good pulse of my child's ability and makes adjustments in lesson plans basis what he feels my son may need to learn first. He has a very pleasant manner and my son is very receptive to him, and enjoys his classes. I would definitely recommend Anthony.

Anthony is a brilliant tutor. Myself and my husband were in desperate need to improve our English. We explained him what we were trying to achieve and why. He was very flexible and from the very first lesson he adapted the learning to our needs.

Anthony is an excellent tutor who is teaching my autistic son David level 1 functional skills English. David struggled with this at college but with Anthony as his tutor he is set to pass. David first had his lessons at Anthony’s home but now due to the lockdown they are having online lessons but David copes well in both settings. David has problems learning but Anthony is always positive and focuses on what he can do and brings out the best in him. I highly recommend him.

My son has now had a lot of lessons with Anthony and is much more confident in his Approach to English Language questions and exam questions. It is a great benefit that Anthony is also a GSCE examiner with the same board that my son does so is experienced in knowing what the examiner is looking for and how best to answer the questions for maximum marks.
Anthony has a very relaxed but reassuringly encouraging teaching manner and has a clear understanding of how to get the best out of my son during his tuition.
