I am a fun loving person with a great sense of humour. I do not take myself too seriously, and am therefore quite relaxed and approachable around teenagers and young people. This in turn produces an atmosphere where the students are able to speak freely about their concerns, misunderstandings and difficulties. Through this, we are able to work together to break down any misconceptions that may be blocking their grasp of the subject.
I acquired my PGCE in 2006, and started teaching in secondary schools from 2007. I eventually started lecturing in University handling Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry courses. I continue to tutor on a one-to-one basis, achieving excellent results from my students each time.
Socially, I have worked on a voluntary basis with children and teens since 1992 in churches and other support programs to develop leadership skills in young people.
I believe that there is NO stupid question, and there is no one way to understand a topic. I am therefore very patient in explaining each topic from foundation steps if necessary to ensure students understand the topic at hand. My love for mathematics and teaching is conveyed in the enthusiastic way I put across each topic which eventually produces an interest in even the most reluctant learner.
I aim to develop confidence in my students as I am usually involved in preparation for exams. My students grow to develop independence in learning using their individual learning styles which leads to an improvement in their predicted grades.
