I am a qualified primary school teacher with 14 years of teaching experience, from Reception to Year 6. I completed my degree in Bedford, and have worked in primary schools in Bedford and Brighton, both state and independent. I have received outstanding feedback from each school that I have taught in, and I pride myself on my ability to see the individual needs of each pupil. This enables me to make learning fun, relevant and tailored to each child's learning style. I believe that learning should always be fun, to stimulate the mind and develop independence - if done correctly, a life-long love of learning can be created! I currently live in Bedford with my husband and toddler, and I co-run a successful training business with my husband whilst tutoring part time around my childcare needs.
I have 14 years of teaching experience, teaching Reception to Year 6. Alongside that I have also worked as a Maths tutor for several children aged 5-11, and an English tutor for a Year 6 child (preparing for SATs). In addition I have worked as a Teaching Assistant, running small group interventions that target the specific needs of each child. I have also worked in a training role in which I delivered workshops to pupils aged from 7 to 18. I have worked with a range of needs and abilities and can tailor my teaching to the needs of each pupil.
I believe that learning must be fun for it to have its greatest impact - I strive to ensure that all topics are covered through activities and games, giving opportunities to consolidate understanding. It will only be once this knowledge has become secure that we move onto written work. Discussions are key to learning, and I will encourage discussions to facilitate learning. It is essential for the pupil to have the opportunity to reflect on their progress and learning.
In addition, I believe that successful learning must start with a tailored, individual approach - the ‘one size fits all’ attitude does not work for children and their learning. I make my sessions fun and interactive, and break down learning into small accessible steps, building on confidence as well as academic success.
