Anna

I am a researcher in the English department at the University of Warwick, where I obtained my PhD last year. My research to date has covered literature of the nineteenth century/the Romantic and Victorian period, the twentieth century and the twenty-first; and has dealt with topics including Feminism, Marxism, the history of science, ecology, disability studies, comparative mythology, magic and the supernatural, and the Gothic. English is my first language, but I also have basic fluency in French, German and Italian. I am also a published poet.

Tutoring Approach

I view tutoring as a partnership, which supplements the work you are doing at school or university. My priorities are, firstly, to prepare you for your assessments, and, secondly, to encourage your own insights into and passions for the topic at hand. As your tutor I will take the time to understand your unique learning style and needs. I will work with you to foster and develop your personal responses to literary texts and movements, and to develop your subject-specific expertise in line with your goals. I value original and creative thinking and can bring a significant breadth of research and editing experience to bear on supporting you with, for instance, subject comprehension, textual analysis and literary techniques, conceptualizing and planning essays, and developing and honing your writing style.
