Online Chemistry and Biology Teacher

Good afternoon. I am Head of Chemistry at my current school (a British curriculum international school) and teach Chemistry at KS4 and KS5. I have taught Chemistry to A Level and International Baccalaureate standard, and KS4 Chemistry and Biology across all UK examination boards. I possess a first-class honours degree in applied biochemistry from the University of Ulster before carrying out postgraduate research. I am a mother of three adult children and have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Certificate . I completed an subject knowledge enhancement course at the Metropolitan Manchester University and the Celta at the International School, Barcelona. The main subject that I am qualified to teach is chemistry, as I have always had a lifelong passion for this subject and I have studied environmental, analytical, organic and inorganic chemistry to post-university level. Also my PGCE was chemistry-specific.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught for 9 years and am now Head of Chemistry at my current school. I have extensive experience in both teaching and tutoring GCSE and A level students in chemistry, both AS and A2. I cover the specifications for OCR, AQA and Edexcel exam boards and I provide all resources.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is to first evaluate what the student knows and take it from there. A hands-on approach to exams is vital and I believe in improving exam techniques through the completion of past papers whilst improving on subject knowledge and understanding. The practical applications of chemistry in industry, education and health are also covered as a wide breadth of understanding is important for the student to achieve to a high level.
