Hello!
Having been in the Education sector for 9+ years now, I have great experience within a variety of schools including mainstream and specialist provisions. Most recently, I have been working in SEND schools and therefore, am well versed with conditions such as autism and ADHD. My approach is that each child has their own starting point and we focus on that. This enables the student to progress quickly as we target the gaps in knowledge and bring them closer to and achieving age related expectations.
I am Head of Maths for an Outstanding rated SEND school and understand curriculums well. This means that I can teach a variety of age groups up to and including GCSE programs. Some students at secondary age though are still working at a primary level which can be incredibly tough and frustrating for them, especially if their school expects them to understand a typical age related lesson. Don’t panic! It is all about understanding the student and what they need to succeed.
