Hello! My name is Andreas, I am 23 years old, originally from the Netherlands but currently located in Paris. After reading Classics and Modern Greek at Oxford (Magdalen College, First Class Honours), I am going on to study an MPhil in Politics and International Studies at Christ's College, Cambridge, this autumn. That is to say that, on top of my academic writing and language skills (apart from English, Greek and my native Dutch, I speak fluent French and Italian), I can provide you with guidance in preparation for and during the Oxbridge application process. I also offer tailored courses in Political Science, Philosophy, Latin, Greek (Ancient and Modern), Ancient History, and the French Language and Literature.

Tutoring Experience

I have three years formal tutoring experience (mostly with secondary school students), both in large classroom settings and 1-on-1, in a wide variety of subjects. Obviously, however, I know the Oxbridge tutorial system inside out, and it is this that my tutoring style seeks to reflect, keeping in mind the specific requirements of my students (see below).

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring style stands out for its versatility and scope: while I aim to prepare structured and stimulating courses, I let myself to a large extent be guided by the input given by my students during our tutorials. To me, a successful tutorial is not (at least exclusively) about the transmission of knowledge: it is one where both tutor and student discover new angles to a given topic, and leave feeling encouraged to investigate said topic further. If anything, it is my enthusiasm for these subjects that I most hope to be able to transmit.

As mentioned, I am located in Paris until October, meaning that my teaching happens online for the moment.
