Online Spanish Tuition

I am an experienced Spanish teacher and Head of Spanish in a mixed secondary school. I was raised in London by Spanish parents and have grown up bilingual. I have several qualifications in Spanish language, ranging from GCSE to degree level, meaning I am able to teach Spanish at native speaker level, whilst also having an in depth knowledge of grammar and the potential pitfalls English speakers may experience when learning the language.

Tutoring Experience

I have now been teaching for 8 years overall and have been Head of Spanish for 6 years. As Head of Spanish I have an in depth knowledge of the requirements of the GCSE, particularly for Edexcel. As a qualified teacher, I have taught secondary school ages 11-16, although I have taught all age ranges (ages 4-18) when teaching English on my year abroad, where I also tutored students learning English.

My family is originally from Málaga, in the south of Spain and I therefore speak with an Andalusian accent or a more neutral accent as preferred by my students when teaching.

Tutoring Approach

I am very versatile in my teaching approach and this would very much depend on the needs and preferences of my students.

I believe that the best ways to learn a language are through mixing several different approaches together and through as much immersion as possible. Therefore, I will always recommend and guide students towards additional resources, media, Spanish events etc. which they can access in between sessions to further improve their Spanish.

For primary school level, I like to teach in a fun and engaging way, through games, songs and conversations.

At secondary school level, I will still endeavour to make sessions engaging, but will include more grammar and focus on the 4 skills, as well as exam skills. I also give feedback during each session so that students are given the opportunity to address misconceptions.

For casual and adult learners, this will depend on the reason they would like to learn Spanish. I will plan lessons centred around this through different scenarios and conversations. We will focus on mainly listening and speaking and reading skills.
