Hi there! My name is Amy and I’m a TEFL certified instructor from Scotland. I have 7 years of experience teaching English and I specialise in IELTS exam preparation and teaching Spanish-speakers. I lived in Ecuador for almost 10 years. I love helping students improve their English and seeing them achieve their goals.

Tutoring Experience

My 7 years of experience include 18 months experience of teaching online. I worked for 5 years in an ongoing education centre which allowed me the opportunity to teach a variety of ages (teens, students and working adults) and a variety of levels (A2-B2). I also have certificates in Teaching IELTS for all four components of the exam and can help you improve the skills and strategies you need to achieve your desired band, including mock speaking exams.

I also specialise in teaching Spanish-speakers as I’m fluent in Spanish and taught English in Ecuador for 6 years. I know the specific difficulties Spanish-speakers can face as they learn English, and have knowledge of shared grammatical structures and vocabulary between the two languages.

Tutoring Approach

One of my strengths is teaching and explaining grammar, so if grammar is something that you struggle to understand, I am the teacher for you!
I like to make my lessons personal and as enjoyable as possible by using fun and interactive resources. Language is all about communicating, and I also enjoy getting to know my students and hearing about their culture and experiences, as well as sharing my own.
