While doing a dolphin training internship, I realised humans are much more fascinating than dolphins. As well as Biology, I teach mindfulness, and am learning to teach relaxing Hatha yoga (having previously disliked Ashtanga yoga as a form of exercise). I enjoy bouldering.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced Biology teacher with 13 years of teaching experience in both state and independent schools. I have been Head of Biology and an exam marker for AQA GCSE exams. I am also familiar with other examination boards. I have experience teaching students with a variety of learning differences (including dyslexia and ADHD) and also stretching the highest attaining.

Tutoring Approach

I love it when students get an "aha!" moment of enlightenment. I think of confusion as a gateway to understanding. To me, fostering a love of science and seeing students' confidence and independence grow are some of the most rewarding aspects of teaching. I enjoy getting to know individuals and tailoring activities to their unique interests and current level of understanding. I aim to support retention of information, understanding, and engagement by ensuring that learners are as active as possible, not passive.
