Music Lessons in Monmouth

I am an experienced and enthusiastic music teacher having just moved to Herefordshire from Kent. Although I have recently taken early retirement from the classroom, I am a passionate flautist who is looking to increase my private flute teaching. My students achieve well, in the last session I had a grade 1 distinction, 6 merit and 8 distinction ABRSM. I am a competent pianist (grade 8) and enjoy accompanying my pupils. I also take my students through their grade 5 theory exam. Since moving before Christmas to Herefordshire, 5 out of 6 of my 6 online pupils have continued to have lessons with me online with my 6th pupil focussing on his A' levels before going to Uni!

Tutoring Experience

I have been both a Primary Classroom teacher for 30 years and Music and Creative Arts Manager in 4 Primary Schools. I have also worked for the County Music Service, Kent Music for 20 years as Musical Director of children's choirs and various Flute ensembles.

Tutoring Approach

I inspire my pupils by making their lessons interesting and fun. Learning an instrument can be challenging and I have the experience to identify learning styles, individual strengths, abilities and needs. I do however expect and achieve high standards of work and encourage my pupils to achieve their musical potential. I am an intelligent, enthusiastic and very caring teacher. I strive to give my pupils the best chances and skills available to develop their confidence, self-esteem and ability to go forward in life.
