Alicja

I am a polish-born cellist, currently completing my last year of Maser in Performance degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I'm a prizewinner of many international cello competitions, as well as a frequent participant in many international festivals. I have performed at international chamber music festivals, and as a soloist with orchestras in Poland. I have completed my Bachelor's degree at the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, and complemented my studies with various masterclass and a one year at the Hochschule fur Music Detmold (Germany), as a part of the Erasmus+ scholarship program.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a cello tutor in Poland during my bachelor's degree studies as well as later on when I have moved to London to complete my master studies. My main focus was helping young students of elementary music school, to process and apply all the information they receive at school, and also teach them how to practice on their own and help them develop an individual way of practicing and thinking about the music. The amount of information they receive at school is often overwhelming and complicated, so I believe it's important that they have someone to show them what to do with the information and how to use it to simply play better and, most importantly, enjoy it.

Tutoring Approach

I strongly believe enjoying the music is the main purpose of learning the instrument, therefore I try my best to help my students put all the obstacles (such as technical problems) away, in order to be satisfied and enjoy the music-making.
