Online Maths and Special Needs Lessons

Please note my availability is Mondays 5-7pm and for online tuition only currently

Hello! I am a Maths graduate, specialist dyslexia tutor and trainee dyslexia assessor. I live and work on the edge of the New Forest and have had great success teaching hundreds of students online using Zoom and an online whiteboard.

I have been tutoring for over 10 years and specialise in teaching maths at KS3/GCSE level, particularly to learners with specific learning differences such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dyspraxia. I also thoroughly enjoy working with students on the autistic spectrum and those with ADHD.

As well as being a dedicated and friendly private tutor, I have held other roles in education over the past decade: assistive technology trainer, study skills tutor (Specific Learning Differences, Autism and ADHD), workplace strategy coach and most recently, a Holistic Workplace Needs Assessor.

Please note that my only remaining availability for the academic year 24/25 is 9am-2pm Thursdays#/k#

Tutoring Experience

My tuition journey began in 2014 and since then, I have completed multiple qualifications to enhance the tuition I offer and use trusted teaching strategies for working with pupils with learning differences. My work spans secondary school students of all ability levels, as well as support for university students with learning assistive technology and study skills.

In addition to tutoring after school, I often support students who are electively home educated (EHE) or in receipt of council funding and an EHCP. For these roles, I have and continue to work with guidance from involved persons to design a curriculum which suits the needs and interests of the individual learner and encourages them to take a keen interest in their education.

Tutoring Approach

I specialise in making maths accessible to all learners, tailoring my approach to the needs of the individual and employing specialist techniques learned during many hours of training and CPD. I have a patient, caring and highly supportive nature and this directly influences my approach to tutoring. I prioritise learning strategies that help students to gain confidence, understand their ability and involve a deeper understanding over rote memorisation.
