I am a passionate teacher and tutor committed to helping students realise their full potential.

I am a Social Sciences subject specialist, with qualifications in Psychology and Politics (First Class degree), and consider myself to be a teaching specialist too, with a PGCE (Distinction) and Masters degree in Education (Distinction).

I am genuinely passionate about supporting students' learning and keep myself up to date with the latest research on how learning occurs, and how to teach to assist with retention and retrieval which is essential for success in assessments. Beyond my classroom teaching I also work every year as a Mentor for training or newly qualified teachers.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced teacher of GCSE and A Level students at a high performing grammar school in Trafford, Greater Manchester.

I have been teaching there for 10 years and I am the Head of a Social Sciences Faculty, leading the teaching of A Level Psychology and Politics and GCSE Psychology. I am also an experienced examiner for both subjects.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is one of variety and I will ensure sessions include: discussion of key course content (to check students’ understanding); providing feedback on written work and practice assessments; modelling how to write excellent exam answers; reviewing example answers to ensure students understand the key features of answers across a range of grades.

An aspect of my day-to-day teaching role that I thoroughly enjoy is developing effective resources to support students’ learning. I have resources for all topics across the GCSE and A-Level courses and they will be shared during sessions.

I am committed to ensuring students enjoy the learning process. I will quickly develop an effective rapport with students and ensure they feel respected and supported along the journey to them reaching their potential.
