Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching KS3, GCSE and A Level maths in secondary schools for over 7 years, currently working at a highly regarded school in Leeds. I have complimented this with one-to-one private maths tuition over the past 5 years, and have spent thousands of hours helping pupils reach their full mathematical potential. I have worked in both the state and independent sector and have taught pupils of all mathematical abilities.

Tutoring Approach

I have a non-judgemental approach, that is centred around building the student's confidence and self-esteem and reducing a fear of failure. Additionally, I promote a culture of hard-work, grit and internal motivation needed to make maximum progress in maths.

I initially identify understanding of 16 of the key mathematic ideas needed to succeed at GCSE and then develop a tailored programme from there.

I like to use cutting edge teaching strategies from leading practitioners in the teaching industry, and particularly place a large emphasis on retrieval practice and spacing. These help students to not just learn but, importantly, REMEMBER more in the longer term.

My online tuition sessions are interactive, adaptive and engaging. Online tuition allows me to instantly access the most appropriate resources from my diverse educational library to deliver consistently impactful lessons.

Photos of all work are emailed instantly within minutes of the end of each session for pupils to have for revision and retrieval purposes.

I am also trained in stress-management, and so can offer techniques to help sooth exam nerves and anxiety.
