Private Maths Tuition in West Wickham

Highly-experienced private mathematics tutor specialising in A-Level/IB, GCSE/IGCSE and KS3 Mathematics. I obtained a 1st class honours degree in Mathematics from the University of York, and achieved A*’s in A-Level Maths/Further Maths (from Langley Park Boys School, a state school in SE-London/Kent). I am extremely familiar with all major exam boards such as Edexcel, OCR (+MEI), AQA, CIE, WJEC etc. I also provide assistance with the Junior and Intermediate UKMT Maths Challenges - a couple of my previous students made the prestigious Kangaroo and/or Olympiad (only the top 1,200 students in the UK get selected for this).

Tutoring Experience

I’ve been tutoring privately full-time since 2018 (part-time many years before too) and greatly enjoy my work. I have had plenty of time to learn how to adapt my approach over the last decade or so having taught a wide variety of students - those who have a strong disliking of maths and need that boost in confidence, or those who are pursuing the highest grades and want to develop their mathematical skill even further. For me, the number one thing is making the student feel comfortable about learning mathematics and enjoy the experience!

I’ve also assisted a large number of students with securing first-choice university offers at some of the top institutions in the world such as Oxford/Cambridge/Imperial College London, as well as many Russell Group universities.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring style can be described as well-organised, professional, calm, enthusiastic, reliable and patient. I always like to make sure that parents remain well-informed about progress with weekly feedback, and I set tailor-made assignments every week to make sure that the tutee can cement ideas learnt in our sessions.

These days, I teach mainly online. I've invested in the equipment to be able to carry out lessons smoothly - all the tutee will need is a laptop and internet access. I send a link to an online blackboard before the first session, and this link will be used every time. Here, the video call will also take place so there's not even any need to set up a Zoom/Meet account. All the notes made in the lesson will remain on this link so that they can be referred back to at any point, which is incredibly useful since everything is all in one place.

Please feel free to drop me a message to discuss any further details you may require, and to schedule a regular weekly time slot. I look forward to hearing from you!
