I'm a PhD student at the University of Cambridge where I work on the cultural history of Britain in the eighteenth century.
I have several years of experience tutoring History and English at A Level, GCSE and KS3. I also have plenty of experience supporting peers in learning groups, workshops, conferences and presentations throughout my Bachelors and Masters degrees.
I believe it's easiest to learn something if your interested in it. I look for ways to give the subject I'm teaching a wider context, to make it relevant, intriguing and fun. I think it's important to set goals and work in bite-size chunks, building up knowledge piece by piece. It's also important to find a good steady pace to work at that keeps the momentum going but doesn't feel like a rush to get things done. Most important of all, I'm passionate about my subject, history, and about the different ways we can communicate ideas; developing skills in comprehension, writing and verbal communication is absolutely crucial for studying any subject.
