Hello - I am Alana! I am a history graduate from the University of Strathclyde 2019. History is truly my passion and I love anything related. My specialism is Scottish History to which I have studied at Masters Level at University of Glasgow. I have a great interest and excellent knowledge in Scottish History (17th century onwards), World War 1 and 2, Hitler and Nazi Germany, Britain in the 20th century.

Please contact me since I am highly flexible on topics and also have a lot of expertise about historical theory and historiography. At school, I achieved band 1 A's in my Higher and have a good working knowledge of the SQA exam requirements. I have good subject knowledge but also a high ability in structuring essays and source questions and can lay these out and discuss the best way to showcase knowledge and impress your exam marker!

Tutoring Experience

To trade I am a teacher, having gained my PGDE from University West of Scotland and have spent time working with young people in secondary schools through my undergraduate degree and my PGDE. This has allowed me to identify my own teaching style and fine tune my ability.

I have tutored privately in my local area since 2016 and have only improved these skills working within a classroom.

My tutoring approach is tailored to the individual needs of each student, and I work hard to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. I believe that history should be taught in a way that makes it come alive, and I strive to do this by using a variety of teaching methods, including visual aids, discussions, and hands-on activities.

As a trained teacher, I have extensive experience in creating lesson plans and teaching materials that are both informative and engaging. I am committed to helping my students develop critical thinking skills, as well as a deep understanding of historical events and concepts.

In our lessons, we will talk about the gaps you have and want help to fill! From then, I will work with you to tailor each lesson to your needs. This might include working on course knowledge, revision techniques, exam prep, essay writing and source questions.
