I have been a history teacher in the state sector for 16 years. I work work full time and have always taught in secondary schools that accommodate students between Year 7 and 13. I have extensive experience of successfully delivering history to KS3, KS4 and KS5. I currently teach the revised GCSE specification (2016 onwards, Grades 9-1) for Edexcel and am well equipped to tutor students in this area. I have taught most topics under the umbrella of modern world history, including Nazi Germany, The Cold War and America in the 20th Century, to name a few. The units I have the most experience with are the ones I teach as part of my role as a teacher. These include Edexcel Option 33: The USA, 1954-75: Conflict at home and abroad and Option 26: Superpower relations and the Cold War, 1941-91 and Medieval depth study options.
As a full time teacher in the state sector I have held many roles, I am currently an Assistant Headteacher, but have also been a subject leader for History. My degree is in Archaeology and I hold a PGCE in History. Teaching in this sector has meant that I have worked with many different students with a range of differing abilities and backgrounds. I have a lot of experience in differentiating subject content and skills for a range of different learners.
My approach to tutoring will be similar to how I approach my classes in school. I am knowledgeable, supportive and have a good sense of humour. I will do whatever I can to support you in your studies.
