Tutoring Experience
Primary Y4/5/6 teacher for 25 years now retired. Maths and ICT coordinator for 20 of those years. Tutoring privately since 2014 mostly English and Maths to Y8 secondary.
Tutoring Approach
As appropriate for each learner. With maths finding misconceptions and establishing secure concepts is essential. I find a mixture of problems to explore concepts and identify strengths and problems, with short, lively basic skills practice most effective.
English I like to follow Pie Corbett's approach choosing books that appeal to the learner for inspiration.
