Sayed Adam

Online Chemistry Tutor

Hello there! My name is Adam and I am a fourth-year medical student at King's College London. I am passionate about teaching and always try my utmost to ensure that every student reaches their full potential. Some background about my own study journey:

Unfortunately, I did not have a good teaching experience at A-level. I found that although my teachers had good intentions they were unable to adequately support me in reaching my academic goals. I ended up studying the majority of A-level Chemistry independently. It was during this time that I trialled many revision/learning techniques and gained an appreciation study skills and how to study the best. Thankfully, I attained an A* in Chemistry.

This demonstrated to me that by employing the correct approach to studying specific material one can achieve the highest grade in any subject. This also made me realise that with determination and a suitable plan anyone student can succeed. I am keen to help student perform to the best of their ability by sharing exactly what I did to achieve an A* and how they can do so also. If I could only give one piece of advice it would be work SMARTER, not just harder!

I am also available for personal statement, UCAT and medical school admissions advice including preparations for MMIs (multiple mini interviews), having myself received offers to study medicine from King's College London and the University of Bristol.

Further information is available upon request.

Tutoring Experience

I sat my A-level examinations in the summer of 2019. I achieved an A* in A-level Chemistry (Edexcel), an A in A-level Physics (AQA) and an A in A-level Biology (AQA). All exams post-2015 new specification.

Further qualifications:

GCSEs - 4A*s (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Maths), 4 As (English Language, English Literature, Geography, Religious Studies)
UCAT score = 2780 (top 12% of the 2018 cohort)

Tutoring Approach

My approach typically involves having an initial conversation with students over a video call to help me identify their weaknesses in the subject (e.g. understanding, recall, exam technique, motivation etc). I may also review their past work if necessary. I will then proceed to help students improve these weaknesses. I incorporate scientifically proven methods of learning into tuition e.g. spaced repetition, active recall, interleaving and blocked learning. However, it is important to note that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning and so I will endeavour to tailor the tuition I provide to the individual needs of each student. Some of the resources I use include past paper questions, mock exams, revision guides and topic booklets. My aim is for students to make their revision as productive as possible, so that they may succeed and still have lots of free time. All I require from students is consistency and an open mind.
