Abi

I am an Undergraduate reading Classics at a Russel Group University. My academic interests are literay based; I have a key passion for the Romantics and their works. Classical plays by Euripides are of great interest to me also, as the presentation of heroic traits that are subversively embraced by the female characters intrigued me. Gender politics are greatly expressed through both contemporary and classical writers and this comparison is utterly eye-opening. I am an avid reader and enjoy historical and visual context.
I am a Mock Trial Winner and placed Creative Writing pieces into competition, with great successes.
Whilst in College I was placed into the HE+ program, where I visited top universities such as Oxford and Cambridge. Later I received an interview from Oxford.
When I was sitting my Alevels I was an avid theatrical goer. I did an Alevel in Drama and Theatre Studies which helped to build my confidence for public speaking, whilst making me view the literary world through new and a more expressive mindset.
Becoming an Undergraduate aided my view of eductaion as being more free, for I saw education as a neccessity before hand and this mechanism wasn't that appealing. It is a great privelage to become a University student, where I have learnt further skills in critical analysis and essay development.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience with tutoring children online over my first year of university, with successes in GCSE English Language and Literature.
I have gained experience whilst tutoring my brother, he has autism and speech and language deficits. I tutored him in GCSE English Language and Literature skills, and he achieved a 8 (A*) in Language and a 7 (A) in Literature.
I also worked with vulnerable adults who suffered from all different types of disorders and deficits, I was a group leader and was in charge of 6-10 adults at a time. I taught them key life skills, such as planting and painting. I was the youngest team leader and developed great communication and time management skills. In the future I hope to train to become an SEN teacher.
I have also helped with friends coursework and revision over A levels, where they received grades A-B in subjects such as Drama and Theatre Studies and English Literature.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is positive, as I like to make the student feel confident with what they suggest during the sessions. Building of trust and individual self-esteem is important when trying to aid a pupil.
Although I am focused on building the students self-esteem I am adamant on giving targets, to challenge the student by giving appropriate feedback in writing style or approaches to texts is important.
As I have experience working with disabled children and adults I am aware that these individuals need brakes, in order to process the teaching I am delivering. I have a very observant and kind teaching style, and find key importance in homework and the building of skills like critical analysis. When gifting homework and personal studies I am made aware of the individuals learning styles, for instance if the student is a visual learner, and taper my teaching with these styles in mind.
