Private Maths and Physics Tutor in Kensington

Electronics engineering graduate from the University of Southampton with First Class Hons. Working as a professional in Embedded Software Engineering in London.

I am looking to tutor younger students to improve their understanding of maths and science, I love seeing the spark of understanding that comes from conveying a concept clearly. I believe in understanding why things work as they do, instead of rote learning, which has allowed me to succeed in academics with the changes to the new syllabus across GCSE and A-levels focusing more on the application of knowledge.

Academic achievements:

I have achieved 9A*s and 1A in my GCSEs in the subjects:
Maths (A*)
Further maths (A*)
Physics (A*)
Chemistry (A*)
Biology (A*)
History (A*)
Religious Education (A*)
Spanish (A*)
English (A*)
English Literature (A)

(average raw UMS score of over 95% across 10 subjects).

Tutoring Experience

I have been mentoring since 6th Form for the last 7 years. I have tutored many students from passing private school examinations to GCSE exams. I am extremely good with kids and a very patient teacher.

Tutoring Approach

Very active teacher. No student is able to coast along because of my constant line of questions, similar to the 1:1 tutoring style in Oxbridge. If a student is unable to understand a concept, I will dig deeper into where the holes in their knowledge lies. Even if it means going down to first principles and working all the way up. This tackles the issue of "Swiss cheese" learning, where small holes in basic principles can cause massive issues down the line.

I am very fond of illustrating my point with diagrams, drawings and metaphors to make learning the harder concepts more understandable. In the end if you understand the concept behind what you are learning not only will you have a greater appreciation for the subject, but you will also be able to solve more challenging A* (GCSE grade 9) questions.
