First Tutors Struck by Lightning - Literally!

August 8th, 2011 by Sara

Many of our users will have noticed that our website was down during Sunday evening and most of Monday too. We would like to apologise for the inconveniences caused but regrettably the issues where out of our control. One of Amazon's cloud transformers located in Dublin was struck by lightning on Sunday evening which caused a fire that extended to the backup generators.

"The transient electric deviation caused by the explosion was large enough that it propagated to a portion of the phase control system that synchronises the backup generator plant, disabling some of them," Amazon said.

We have been up and running since 6.30 pm today (Monday 8th Aug) and fingers crossed there will be no more issues!
