Personal Description:

Hi I'm Wayne and I'm a professional actor with 10+ years experience within the industry as both a performer and producer across stage and screen. My training background includes 5 years of professional training across two different schools that take a vastly different approaches to acting as a craft. The first was three years of training at the University of Northampton where I received the Martin Lawrence Acting Award for best male actor in my year group. I later also attended the Identity School of Acting where I trained for a further two years.

Throughout my time within the industry I have also produced work (including a touring production of Shakespeare's Macbeth) via my theatre company which involved me not only performing but also directing and casting actors too. This of course means that my perspective of teaching comes not only from that of the actor but also from that of a director and producer.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent a significant part of my career teaching young people both inside and outside the performing arts and I am deeply passionate about giving back to the community.

Throughout 2012-2014 I taught weekly acting classes to a wide range of ages at The Academy in Bucks. Also, throughout the life-span of my theatre company we have frequently been commissioned to work with school students of varying ages to teach both direct performance skills and also more general creative skills. For the theatre company's productions where we have hired actors, I would also deliver a program of intense training to those cast in our particular style of performance and techniques.

Finally, unrelated to acting and performance arts, my business is frequently hired and commissioned by the University of Northampton to deliver workshops and teaching to school students exploring entrepreneurial and creative community projects to support social enterprise and positive social change in their local communities.

Teaching Approach:

There are a vast array of approaches to acting as a craft and I have been lucky enough to be trained by a wide range of practitioners across multiple drama schools. This means that I have the ability to pivot and change my approach based upon the needs of the students.

Acting is best taught in a safe, creative and relaxed environment which I very much create, but with the understanding that results can only come from the hard work and dedication of the student. I take a holistic approach to my teaching targeting the student's specific hurdles and tackling them directly through a variety of different methods. For me, the greatest reward in teaching a student the craft of acting is being there to witness their breakthrough moments and shining a spotlight on how they got there.
