Personal Description:

I am a professional artist and have a studio that is located in North London. I run online classes both in groups and on an individual basis. I train teachers to teach and have 35 years of experience.

I've taught drawing at all levels, painting and design at art schools including Parsons and Pratt NY, St Martins and many other art schools and Universities, most recently I've taught at Brunel University in London and online classes.

Teaching Approach:

My philosophy is that anyone can learn to draw and learning to draw can boost your confidence, my approach is to nurture your creativity. In beginning classes I focus on teaching how to draw objects from life and here I teach basic design principles and the nuts and bolts of drawing (line, value, perspective). All classes are accompanied by handouts and vocabulary lists and examples of other students and artists work. Sessions also include on line and in person gallery and museum visits and lectures on art history and contemporary art. Although I have a structured syllabus for all my basic courses I approach each student as an individual and with respect, it is always my intention to nurture people's creativity and create an inspiring atmosphere. I can help you build your portfolio to get into art school and guide you with how to move forward with your work after art school. I also offer individual one off tutorials for those of you who are getting back to making work after having had a break. My classes are for every level.
